[ENG] Cradle of Filth are back with their 14th studio album, “The Screaming of the Valkyries“, due out on March 21, 2025 via Napalm Records. The album blends their classic macabre sound with new influences, maintaining Dani Filth‘s unmistakable voice and a mix of symphonic black metal, groove and death ‘n’ roll. The tracks range between aggression and melody, with nods to their iconic albums. Produced by Scott Atkins, the album celebrates the band’s past and marks an evolution towards the future.
“The Screaming Of The Valkyries” arrives with a whirlwind of energy and while many magazines speak of an evolution in style, for me not much has changed, but the way everything is orchestrated makes us understand why CoF never get boring. The arrival of Donny Burbage on guitar and Zoe Marie Federoff on keyboards and vocals has breathed new life into the band, with Federoff particularly shining on tracks like “Non Omnis Moriar” and “White Hellebore“. The opening track “To Live Deliciously” is an instant classic, while “Demagoguery” stands out for its powerful riffs and an engaging chorus. Operatic vocals contrasted with Dani’s pressing rhythms are the heart of “White Hellebore“, which I consider the most beautiful track. Another noteworthy track is “When Misery was a Stranger“, because it takes up the dark atmospheres typical of Cradle, but giving them an energetic push, something that is usually not found in the last track and then obviously ranging with riffs that do not even belong too much to the genre. Overall, “The Screaming Of The Valkyries” is a work that celebrates the legacy of Cradle of Filth, offering a blend of melancholic melody, dark thrash and a renewed vitality that should appeal to both longtime fans and new listeners.

Le tracce spaziano tra aggressività e melodia, con richiami ai loro album iconici. Prodotto da Scott Atkins, l’album celebra il passato della band e segna un’evoluzione verso il futuro.
“The Screaming Of The Valkyries” arriva con un vortice di energia e mentre molte testate parlano di evoluzione di stile, per me non è cambiato molto, ma il modo in cui tutto viene orchestrato ci fa capire perchè i CoF non annoiano mai. L’entrata di Donny Burbage alla chitarra e di Zoe Marie Federoff alle tastiere e voce ha infuso nuova linfa alla band, con Federoff che brilla particolarmente in brani come “Non Omnis Moriar” e “White Hellebore“. Il brano d’apertura “To Live Deliciously” è un classico immediato, mentre “Demagoguery” si distingue per riff potenti e un ritornello coinvolgente. Vocalità operistica contraposta alle ritmiche incalzanti di Dani sono il fulcro di “White Hellebore“, che ritengo il brano più bello. Un altro brano degno di nota è “When Misery was a Stranger“, perchè riprende sì le atmosfere dark tipiche dei Cradle, ma dando loro una spinta energetica, cosa che poi di solito non si trova nell’ultimo brano e poi ovviamente spaziando con riff che non appartengono nemmeno troppo al genere. Nel complesso, “The Screaming Of The Valkyries” è un’opera che celebra l’eredità dei Cradle of Filth, offrendo una miscela di melodia malinconica, thrash oscuro e una rinnovata vitalità che potrebbe attrarre sia i fan di lunga data che i nuovi ascoltatori.
